Even though you may have the upper hand, you still need to wait for the dealer to show their hand as they could have a 21. A dealer’s hand could show an 8 or a 9, the probability of their second hand being a 10 would mean that they stand at 18 or 19. You will win by a close margin.
Another good blackjack hand is a 10 or 11 as this enables you to double down on your stake. This allows you to take a third card that could possibly give you a total of 21. You do need to be cautious when it comes to doubling down, especially if the dealer shows a 10 card.
The Worst Blackjack Hands
The worst hand you can possibly start with is a 16 if the dealer has a card valued at 10. The dealer may probably finish with a 20. You would need to take another card and hope it will get you to 21 before the dealer.
The next worst card you can get is a 16 and an Ace. The dealer could have a 16 followed by a 9. You will have to consider hand against the dealer showing a 10, and Ace, etc. You do still have a chance to win the game.
Another not-so-great hand that you could possibly get dealt with is a 13 or 14. It’s not the best hand considering you could go bust and risk making a hit. However, if the dealer shows a poor upcard of 4, 5, or 6 then you must stand. This would mean the dealer would have to draw a second card and a third card, and risk going bust.
Sometimes being an underdog can help you win a round of blackjack. You simply need to be willing to take a stand if you feel like the dealer’s hands are weaker than yours.
